Still No Tribal Oversight For U.S. AeroteamIn response to inquiries from Lynette Warren, Chairman Dee Pigsley revealed at the November General Council Meeting that the tribe still has no representative on the board of directors of U.S. Aeroteam. This is one of the tribe's largest investments, the tribe owns 20% of the company which it bailed out of bankruptcy. As a 20% owner, the tribe is entitled to have one member on the board. A tribal representative sitting on the board would be in a position to oversee the company's operations. At the August General Council Meeting Pigsley said that the seat on the board had been vacant since the dismissal of former STBC (Siletz Tribal Business Corporation) director Henry Cagey. Cagey worked form the tribe from February to July of 2007. Lynette Warren informed the tribal council Cagey has said he never sat on any board meetings for U.S. Aeroteam, though he requested such a meeting. Thus it appears that the tribe has not had any representation on the board this year, and in fact tribal council was not able to say when a tribal representative had ever sat in a board meeting. At the August meeting Chairman Pigsley said that the seat was vacant because there had been no time to appoint a successor to Cagey. She said that a Tribal Council member would be appointed to sit on the board of U.S. Aeroteam. Three month's later, that still hasn't happened. Tribal Council shows no interest whatsoever in oversight of the multi-million dollar aerospace company that the tribe bailed out of bankruptcy.
